Liang started off her professional life studying pattern making and design at Parson’s in NYC where she collaborated on a women’s clothing line for a small boutique in the West Village. From the late 80’s through the 90’s she earned a living bar tending, later managing a bar and music venue in the east village. In the late 90’s fate called and she learned to scuba dive and caught the bug - soon it was all she wanted to do. She built up her diving education and left the NYC fast lane for a life of diving and travel in 2002. Extended stops included Thailand, The Philippines, Indonesia and China; along the way she also organized and ran the grand opening of the first Mexican food restaurant in Macau.
In 2006 she chose Cozumel, Mexico to pursue her career and share her passion, teaching people to scuba dive.
Liang is fluent in Spanish and German and outside her diving accomplishments, co-founded Cozumel Ocean Research, an environmental non-profit based in Cozumel, Mexico.
